The Importance of Weight Management

                The issue of obesity among teenagers is a growing concern. This is owing to the fact that scores of teenagers are eating their way towards becoming potential victims of chronic diseases. Hence, there is an urgent need to educate teenagers on the proper ways to manage their weight. In this article, we will look at the reasons for obesity as well as the ways to overcome it.

                The main reasons for obesity are genetics, bad eating habits and a lack of exercise. It is believed that if an individual’s parents are on the heavy side, he or she will have a higher probability of becoming overweight as well. However, this should not be turned into an excuse as genetic predisposition can be countered by proper eating habits and an active lifestyle. 

                In order to overcome obesity, one must have proper eating habits and a strict exercise regimen. Proper eating habits include having a balanced diet, not snacking between meals and not skipping meals. In addition, exercising on a regular basis will help us to maintain an ideal weight. However, one should always consult a doctor or a fitness expert before joining a gym. Doing this will minimise the chances of injury. 

                Going for regular health checks is recommended. One should also think positively and be disciplined when attempting to lose weight. As Napoleon said, “Victory belongs to the most persevering”.
