Kelantan Trial Paper Directed Writing

I would like to wish a very good morning to our learned judges and friends of the floor. It gives me great pleasure to be here today. The title of my speech is “The advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad”.
Studying abroad offers several advantages. Chief among these is the chance to know another country in greater depth. By going abroad, a student will also get to study at some of the world’s most renowned universities and take advantage of the opportunity to mix with other races. In addition, students who travel overseas to further their studies will be able to improve their English by leaps and bounds. Most importantly, students will learn to be independent and tolerant of others.
However, studying abroad has several disadvantages too. For instance, students who are abroad tend to become homesick as they will miss their parents, siblings and home-cooked food, not to mention the familiar surroundings where they grew up in. Moreover, studying abroad is costly due to the expensive fees and the high cost of living in a foreign country. An inability to adapt to changes in lifestyles and climate are disadvantages as well.
In conclusion, studying abroad has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Hence, it is necessary for parents to weigh the pros and cons carefully when making a decision to send their children overseas to further their studies. Thank you.
